Oak Meadow Event Center Wedding Video | Hayley & Jake
Wedding Video at Oak Meadow Event Center
To quote one of Hayley’s best friends, “Tonight, we’ve got mothers crying. We’ve got father’s filled with absolute pride and I like all the rest of your friends are overjoyed for you. Because we know that the best parts of your love story are yet to come.” There are moments during a wedding day that truly touch our souls. Hayley and Jake’s ENTIRE day touched us. There were definitely happy tears as we edited their feature film.
Hayley and Jake were married at Oak Meadow Event Center. One thing that stood out to us is how much Hayley and Jake enjoyed being with each other. After their first look, the day was simply easy and flew by. Documenting a couple like Hayley and Jake is truly fun. Their wedding day was filled with personal touches and unforgettable loving embraces. The ceremony included a hand blessing by various family members. After a cocktail hour, Oak Meadow Event Center was transformed into an intimate reception space. After the newlywed’s first dance, it was time for the Father-Daughter dance. Hayley’s brother brought a basketball to the dance floor and daughter and coach enjoyed reminiscing together. Cue the tears. A perfect moment for this family. Another evening event that we truly loved was the last dance. As guests went outside for the send-off, Hayley and Jake enjoyed a private last dance together. We are big fans of our couple’s carving out time together on their wedding day, and this was a perfect time for these two to breathe in the day’s festivities.
About The Couple
I asked Hayley and Jake what’s one word that best describes their relationship. They picked, “awesome”! These two enjoy spending time together. Hayley enjoys more adventurous locales. Jake enjoys playing basketball together, nice restaurants, and of course spending time with their dog Tucker Max.
Hayley said, “I love how easy our love has been from the start. It is cliche, but Jake has always felt like home to me. I am the happiest when I am with him, no matter what we are doing or where we are. He always keeps me laughing, even when I am mad at him (which is sometimes frustrating)! I love how giving and caring he is and of course his love for dogs!! He is the most wonderful soul (and beautiful eyes.. swoon) and I am the luckiest girl in the world to marry him!”
Jake said, “Well she has beautiful eyes, a contagious smile, beautiful voluptuous hair, a cute nose, she’s just beautiful! And she takes care of me and loves me and calms me down when I’m upset or lift me up when I am down. She is most of the things I am not and some of the things that I am so I think it makes a good combination of “us”. I mean she’s my soulmate.”
Hayley, tell us how you two met!!
Jake and I met in college when we were 20 years old. We would occasionally run into each other on campus as we were both greek (Jake is a Delta Chi and I am a Phi Mu) and would talk. Talking to Jake was always so easy and comforting, we had a spark from the start. On New Years Eve 2013, we ran into each other again at his fraternity house and spent the whole night talking and hanging out. Jake took me and my now matron of honor (Hannah) home and asked for my number via twitter the next morning. We never stopped talking!
The Proposal Story
And of course, we would love to know your proposal story.
We always go out of town to celebrate New Years because it is a special date for us. This year, we planned a trip to Savannah (our favorite place!) with some friends. I am a planner to the core and love planning trips, so Jake and our friends put me up to planning the trip out. The trip was planned out quite a few months before. The first day we went to an old plantation home, toured the city, ate at our favorite restaurant, and went on a ghost tour. The next morning (NYE), we went to a brunch spot and walked around river street before going back to our hotels to take a nap. I got up and got ready for the night out while Jake slept a little longer. It was SO muggy and gross outside that my hair would not cooperate and I almost gave up and put it on top of my head in a messy bun (SO glad I didn’t). When Jake finally got up, he kept asking me if I needed to do anything else to get ready and I was impatiently sitting on the bed watching him pace back and forth slowly getting ready. He was trying to get the ring out of his bag, but I wouldn’t leave the room haha. I was so oblivious to the fact that he was going to propose that he got the ring out and in his pocket with me sitting right there, not noticing anything. We met up with our friends (who had been in on the whole proposal for months) and went to get dinner. On the way to the rooftop bar, where we were going to spend the rest of the night watching fireworks over the Savannah River, we stopped to get some cheesy NYE gear. I probably chose the WORST and UGLIEST crown they had, still oblivious that I was getting engaged in the next few hours. We got a table and settled in waiting for midnight. A few minutes before midnight, the bar passed out champagne and my now matron of honor, Sara, was adamant that I take off my ugly crown(thank goodness for her). I remember being so confused, but took it off. At midnight, as fireworks and cheers were all around us, Jake kissed me and then got REALLY serious. He said “I love you so much” and I kissed him. He started again, “I love you so much and I” and I again kissed him (I just wanted my NYE kiss lol). Finally, he told me to hold on and said some of the sweetest things ever. It didn’t hit me until he was down on one knee asking me to marry me. My first reaction was to hug him, so I knelt down and we hugged. After we stood up, he laughed and said, “well are you going to say yes?”. I was so caught off guard that I forgot to say yes! We spent the rest of the night and trip celebrating! It could not have been more perfect and Jake likes to joke that I planned my own proposal.
Thank you, Hayley and Jake, for giving us the creative freedom to document your day and for allowing us to show all the beautiful emotions that are truly you. Keep laughing together and holding each other tight when the tears are flowing. Jill & Jonathan
