Shelby & Max | A Timeless Cathedral Wedding and Hermitage Farm Reception in Louisville, KY

Shelby and Max’s April wedding was a beautiful way to begin our 2025 wedding season — a day filled with tradition, emotion, and celebration, even as spring rain gently fell throughout Louisville. Their wedding film captures not only the elegance of the day, but the joy and resilience that defined every moment.

The day began in downtown Louisville at the Cathedral of the Assumption, where Shelby and Max chose to celebrate a traditional Catholic wedding mass. When I arrived to the exciting chatter of family, I filmed the details of the cathedral as guests began to gather, the soft light filtering through the historic architecture. There’s something timeless about this space, and it set the perfect tone for the sacramental ceremony to come.

Inside the cathedral, Shelby and Max exchanged vows, rings, and their first kiss as husband and wife. The moment they recessed down the aisle to applause was filled with emotion — a joyful exhale after months of anticipation and planning. Despite the rainy spring weather marking one of the first weddings of the season, nothing could dampen the energy of the day.

From there, we made our way to Hermitage Farm for portraits and the celebration to continue. As rain fell softly, Shelby and Max embraced the moment, creating romantic, cinematic scenes that made their wedding film even more meaningful. Cocktail hour was held in the Stud Barn, where guests mingled and enjoyed the warmth of the space before the reception began.

The reception kicked off with a grand entrance met by cheers and applause. Shelby’s father warmly welcomed everyone and offered a heartfelt toast to the newlyweds, setting the tone for an evening full of meaningful moments. The night flowed beautifully with cake cutting, touching toasts from family members, and a series of dances that filled the room with emotion — from Shelby and Max’s first dance, to the father-daughter and mother-son dances that followed.

As the evening progressed, the dance floor stayed packed with guests celebrating well into the night. One of the most intimate moments of the day came during Shelby and Max’s private last dance — a quiet pause together before the final send-off. The celebration concluded with an Alabama shaker exit in the light rain, a perfect ending to a wedding day that proved love shines brightest no matter the weather.

Shelby and Max’s Louisville wedding was a stunning blend of faith, family, and fun. Their feature film tells the story of a day that embraced tradition, welcomed the unexpected, and celebrated love in its purest form.
