What Makes My Household Run Smoothly – Part 1

One of my favorite household tips is something very simple and can be put on a wedding registry.  In fact, that’s how we received our first one. I have since upgraded ours, due to needing something slightly larger.

Any guesses as to what it could be?

It’s a monthly calendar on a dry erase board!  Surprised?

It’s seriously one of our favorite household things, and it is hung in the kitchen for all to see.  My husband LOVES it because he can see exactly what we have planned for the month, and he doesn’t have to ask me each week or weekend what we have scheduled. I can easily update it throughout the month as plans get added/ canceled.

It’s simple, easy to use, and effective.

I’m probably old-fashioned when I say that I’m a girl that also likes to have a paper planner with our schedule written out in it.  Yep, I still resort to the paper/pen method. What do I write in my planner? Well, it might have more detailed plans that can’t be kept/fit on the dry erase board or just additional appointments listed out. I like that I have a copy to carry with me when I’m outside of the home. It’s something that works for me.

You may wonder if I use the calendar on my phone.  That’s where I like to keep birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  I like this feature because I can have it post yearly to my phone calendar without worry.

Something this simplistic helps to keep our household and my life running smoothly!

Side note: after friends/guests have visited our home, I have gotten texts from them about our dry erase calendar wondering where I purchased it, how I set it up, etc.  They have in turn set up a similar system for their homes. I think that’s pretty cool.
