The Farm, Akron, AL Wedding Video | Jeff & Caitlyn

Wedding Videography near Tuscaloosa, Alabama

As a wedding videographer in Huntsville, Alabama, I get the opportunity to travel the state of Alabama to film couples in love. Today’s wedding was a bit of a homecoming for me. My roots are on Alabama’s Gulf Coast, and my husband and I started our family in a small community in West Alabama. I have had the honor to serve so many sweet couples from our old Demopolis community. It was a treat to share hugs with our Demopolis friends during this wedding day.

Our first wedding of 2020 was absolutely incredible. We celebrated Leap Day with Jeff and Caitlyn. 2-29-2020! I cannot even describe how in love these two are. There sweet embraces and whispers of “I love you” filled all of us with joy. The two added so many sweet personal touches to their day. Jeff and Caitlyn are fun, loving, and full of laughter. They brought smiles to everyone.

The Farm in Akron, Alabama is a fantastic wedding venue. Tucked into the peaceful countryside, the property and staff truly exemplify southern hospitality. Caitlyn chose The Farm because she loved the outdoor chapel nestled on the edge of the forest. She also liked that The Farm offers an all-inclusive feel for the wedding day allowing them to be able to relax with guests in one place.

Caitlyn carried on the southern tradition of burying a bottle of bourbon before her wedding. And the superstition worked because the weather was absolutely beautiful. I asked Caitlyn what she was most anticipating about her wedding day. She said, “Getting married to my man!” She was also excited about reuniting with old friends and having her grandparents there with her. She has prayed for this as long as she can remember.

We started the day in the bridal suite where Caitlyn was getting her hair and makeup done. I love when the bridal suite is full of smiles, laughter, and generations. Caitlyn’s grandparents are dear to her and her grandmother was not far from all the activity of the day. Caitlyn and Jeff truly included so many special moments into their day. After getting ready with her mother, Caitlyn did a first look with her bridesmaids and then a first look with her father. The reactions of seeing the bride in the dress on the wedding day are priceless. Caitlyn and Jeff also enjoyed some sweet time together during the first look. They captured some portraits with their “flower girl”, their precious puppy dog. While guests began to arrive for the ceremony, Caitlyn shared some intimate moments of giving gifts to her close family. Caitlyn chose her MeeMaw to be the flower girl in her wedding and their emotional time together before the ceremony is precious.

A family friend from Caitlyn’s home church welcomed everyone to the ceremony and officiated the wedding. Jeff and Caitlyn shared traditional vows and planted a tree as a sign of unity and growth. The ceremony was filled with laughter (because sometimes saying vows is tough), smiles, and love. After the ceremony we enjoyed some newlywed portrait time which is always my favorite part of the day to capture a couple together. There is so much joy and the light at dusk is always incredible.

After their first dance and dances with Jeff’s mother and Caitllyn’s father, The Southern Comfort Band brought sweet sounds to the party. Guests enjoyed watching the cake cutting and having silly fun in the photo booth. At the end of the evening, the couple did bouquet and garter tosses and Caitlyn’s sorority sisters from Chi Omega celebrated with a song. After the last dance, guests lined the beautiful venue entrance and sent the couple off with sparklers.

About the Couple

I asked Caitlyn to share her proposal story. She said, “Jeff had just fixed up an old pond for my grandfather. My grandfather built the most beautiful dock on the “new” lake. He stocked the pond with fish and everything was great. Shortly after, SOOO many turtles came to this lake to eat the new fish. My grandfather was practically begging people to come shoot turtles. When Jeff asked me to go “turtle hunting”, nothing seemed odd.”

A few more questions I asked the couple. What’s a one-word description of each other and your relationship? Caitlyn – “fun” Jeff – “wonderful”What do you love most about your relationship? Jeff- “I get enjoy being with you and getting to love you.”Caitlyn – “I love that we genuinely enjoy being around each other. We have fun together no matter what it is. We frequently enjoy game nights just us two at the house.”

How do you like to spend time together? “We like to hunt/fish together when we have free time. Week nights eating supper, game night, or spending time with our Pup!”
