Tuscaloosa Wedding Videography | Soggy Bottom Lodge | Meg & Hunter
Meg & Hunter shared a beautiful late-September wedding at Soggy Bottom Lodge near Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We always enjoy a wedding day at Soggy Bottom Lodge. Meg & Hunter chose the venue because it offers a beautiful outdoor setting and Hunter is an avid outdoorsman. They both enjoy time outdoors. Add a little sunshine and lake-side ceremony, and Soggy Bottom turned out to be a perfect spot for these two.
Meg and her girls enjoyed some hair and makeup time at Shack 33. The guys got to have a little morning fun skeet shooting on the property. I lost count how many deer we saw throughout the day. You can always count on a few added guests at your wedding at Soggy Bottom. There are always a few deer watching nearby. After a relaxing morning, everyone gathered at the lodge for getting ready and portraits. Meg’s mom helped her into her wedding gown. This beautiful gown was designed with classic and elegant details. Several of us ladies conquered the buttons. So many buttons. Meg got to share some special and emotional time with her parents before the day’s events went full speed. Hunter and Meg didn’t want to see each other until the ceremony. After portraits at the lake with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, instead of doing a first look the bride and groom shared a first touch. A first touch is a fun way to be with each other without seeing each other. Meg & Hunter shared traditional vows.
About an hour before sunset, guests started to gather for the lake-side ceremony. The processional of the family and wedding party turned out so lovely on the stone path to the altar. Hunter and Meg shared traditional vows with all of their family smiling at the moment and wiping back happy tears. Because the two hadn’t seen each other all day, we got to spend some wonderful newlywed time with them at sunset. If you choose not to do a first look, definitely sneak a little newlywed time into your schedule to enjoy the moment and get some incredible gold hour footage.
After an incredible meal, the wedding party and the new Mr. & Mrs. were introduced. Hunter led Meg to the dance floor for a first dance at dusk. Then, Meg shared a dance with her father and Hunter shared a dance with his mother. Such special moments. The two shared a champagne toast after the cake cutting. Then, they enjoyed some time greeting their guests. The evening quickly came to a finale with a bouquet and garter toss, a sparkler send-off, and a getaway in a sweet classic car. Hunter, we need to plan out that getaway next time. Mariah and I might have been a bit to close to your nice ride when you spun out (lots of laughter after that one).
I asked Meg a few questions about their story. Hunter and Meg actually met in 5th grade! Hunter moved to the area and they attended the same school. They were in the same grade and because the school was small they shared a lot of time together from 5th-12th grade. Hunter and Meg never talked or hung out in grade school. He was quiet and she was outgoing. They went different ways in college and when Meg moved back home the two started hanging out with one another. And the rest is history.
It’s always neat to hear a couple’s proposal story. Hunter planned a trip to Chattanooga because he knew Meg always wanted to go to Rock City. Two of their friends tagged along with them for the weekend. After Hunter proposed, Meg had a million questions for her new fiancé. How long have you had the ring? So you have been lying this whole time? The ring was in the house? You really put it there? How did I not find it? You had it in your pocket on the way up here in that huge case? Turns out…..The ring he got was the first one he looked at (he knew it was Meg’s favorite). He took Meg to multiple jewelry stores to look at rings and he had one the whole time. One day Meg asked Hunter to unlock his gun safe so that she could put some important documents in there. He proceeds to tell her that isn’t a good idea because his safe isn’t fireproof….Fast forward, we arrived in Chattanooga and he gave the ring to their friend because it was way too noticeable in his pocket.
One thing that Meg anticipated most about the day was being with family. Family means the world to her and she couldn’t wait to see each one of them during the ceremony. Her three nephews were ring bearers and her two nieces were flower girls.
Meg and Hunter, I am beyond thrilled to share this feature film with you. Your family was a joy to be with. As your little one grows, I hope he values family as you do and enjoys a lot of time in the woods with daddy. Thank you so much for the memories! -Jill
