Fairhope Park Wedding // Mobile Photographer

Camellia and Robert’s wedding and reception were held at the Nix Center in Fairhope, Alabama. The couple loves the city of Fairhope. They chose to get married in the area because of its quaintness and friendliness. It was a lot of fun to drive down to Mobile Bay and take wedding party portraits near the Fairhope Pier. I grew up on Alabama’s Gulf Coast and it just feels right getting to work near the water.

I first talked with Camellia a year ago and we connected right away. She’s been so sweet to keep up with my family happenings throughout the year. Here is their story in their own words:

Q. How did you meet?
A. We’re high school sweethearts! Two days before the groom’s 16th birthday, after two months of long distance talking, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Robert actually told me he loved me before he asked me out.

Q. What is your proposal story?
A. It was my 21st birthday. Every year we go to Bellingrath Gardens, it’s my favorite place in the world, so as usual, that’s where we went. We had two dear friends with us and the whole time, Robert was 10 steps ahead of me talking to his friend. Finally, when we arrived at the dock on Fowl River, Robert and I were taking photos together. That’s when he reached in his pocket and got on his knee! He bought my ring from my late Great Grandfather’s jewelry store in Chickasaw, AL and we’re using my late Grandmother’s wedding band as my own.

Q. A one-word description of each other and your relationship.
A. Bride’s description of Groom: ‘Loyal.’ This may sound cliche, but I mean this word in it’s most raw and pure form. We can certainly be the typical young couple. We may eat out too many times, we still have to call our moms to make sure something’s been in the oven long enough or google what a deductible is; but when I think of Robert, just think of him, I feel reassured, safe and loved beyond measure. His loyalty to his jobs, to his relationships, to me, is admirable.
