Maggie and Shannon’s wedding day was full of sunshine, happy tears, and loving embraces. After a cold start to our deep South winter, this Saturday greeted us with mild temperatures and radiant sunshine. The neutral colors of the woods gave me a perfect backdrop to photograph this sweet couple. The ceremony was held in a rustic barn at ShellB Acres in Birmingham, Alabama. Barn weddings are so great to photograph. The rustic wood mixed with the elegance of weddings trimmings is just stunning. As the doors were opened, bright sunlight splashed into the barn allowing Shannon to see his bride for the first time. All of us were drawn into the connection of these two as they exchanged vows. The reception was held down the long driveway of the property near the lake. A balcony with warm sunshine welcomed family and friends.
Here are a few questions I asked Maggie & Shannon during the wedding planning.
We met through our friends Juliana and Josh.
Q. What is your proposal story?
Shannon proposed at the bridge in the middle of UWA campus.
Q. What do you love most about your relationship?
How loving and caring it is and how much fun we have when we are together.
Thank you, Maggie and Shannon, for sharing your special day with me. The sweet smiles you two kept sneaking each other after the ceremony was priceless. Enjoy some of my favorite images from the day.
Let’s be real. Planning weddings is hard. There is a lot of pressure to plan the perfect day. There are also a lot of voices trying to share helpful advice, but all the advice can get cluttered and lead to stress. And let’s not forget the comparison game. As photographers and videographers in Birmingham, Alabama, we…
This past wedding season was such a thrill. I traveled over the southeast photographing weddings in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. It was such an honor to invest my heart and photography into these couples. I have spent hours reliving each of their wedding days by looking over thousands of images. My smile is so big…
At the end of this spring, I was invited to photograph a wedding at Everhope Plantation in Eutaw, Alabama. The Antebellum estate once owned by Captain Nathan Carpenter is on the National Register of Historic Places and is just a short drive from the University of Alabama. Everhope’s proprietor, Mr. Barden Smedberg, was the epitome…
In the old black and white movies, you see kids riding bikes in these cute little neighborhoods. Well, you could put Lindsey and my sister in one of those scenes. I was so excited when Lindsey first contacted me about wedding photography. Hiring me for a Foley, Alabama wedding is like hiring a local photographer….
This Florence proposal surprised me and Kelsey. I was on a beautiful old railroad bridge that has been converted to a pedestrian bridge overlooking the Tennessee River. I was enjoying the end of an engagement session with another couple, when a group of 3 people walked past us. We all smiled at each other and…
Rachael and Adams’s June wedding was held at the NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The couple chose the location for its scenic landscape and beauty. This was the first time I had photographed at NorthRiver and I really enjoyed the experience. The staff was so helpful and the grounds made for some beautiful wedding…
