The spring wedding day was absolutely beautiful for photography. The trees swayed in the breeze making the sunlight glisten through the branches as I entered the grounds of the Mitchell Plantation. I attended the wedding rehearsal the night before and everyone was so excited to be together and celebrate Meghan and Drew’s union.
When I arrived at the Mitchell Plantation, Lillie Belle Weddings was putting the finishing touches on the flowers. Southern Magnolia leaves were used in many of the arrangements. I distracted the groom while the bride and her girls slipped up the spiral staircase to the bridal suite.
The couple chose a traditional approach so the first time Drew saw Meghan in her dress was when she walked down the aisle. The look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time is one of my favorites, and Drew’s face did not disappoint. There was a brisk breeze throughout the ceremony and then a peace fell over the area as Drew and Meghan lit the unity candle. A perfect memory surrounding such a meaningful moment.
After the cake cutting, everyone danced the night away to the music of the Thomas Henry Band. There was even some audience participation during “Sweet Home Alabama”. The dance floor stayed full into the evening. As the temperature cooled into the late evening, everyone lined the front walkway with sparklers and cheered as Meghan and Drew got in a classic 1931 Ford for their send off. Congratulations Meghan and Drew!
One of my favorite parts of wedding photography is building a relationship with my couples. Throughout the wedding planning process, I keep myself available to my brides for whatever questions they may have. Usually, during these conversations, my mind will turn sentimental and I’ll think about all the wonderful memories of my journey to the…
I have recently suggested one thing to three newly engaged gals and I realized I’ve never shared it with y’all. What could this groundbreaking tip be?!?! It’s one thing that my husband and I did when we were newly engaged and it honestly helped fund our honeymoon. And to be honest, he did way…
We’re nearing the end of our best of series for 2017. Wow, have I met some amazing people this year. Engagments sessions are a neat way to celebrate the time leading up to your wedding day. I always tell couples to treat this session like a date and I’ll take care of the rest. This…
When I arrived at the People of Mars Hill Church in Mobile, Alabama, the clouds were dark and the rain was pouring down. However, the gloomy weather did not affect the mood of this amazing couple. It was such a pleasure to photograph Chris and Deeon’s wedding day. Here is a preview of their wedding…
At the end of this spring, I was invited to photograph a wedding at Everhope Plantation in Eutaw, Alabama. The Antebellum estate once owned by Captain Nathan Carpenter is on the National Register of Historic Places and is just a short drive from the University of Alabama. Everhope’s proprietor, Mr. Barden Smedberg, was the epitome…
