This is the time of year where I get to go back and look at the photography from all my summer weddings. From Birmingham, Alabama to Nashville, I’ve had some great stops on my summer wedding photography tour. Today’s article will feature Lauren and Dillon’s wedding at Mimosa Ridge in Livingston, Alabama. Lauren chose Mimosa Ridge because it is a beautiful venue. She always wanted an outdoor wedding.
When I arrived at the property, the skies were overcast and there was a warm spring feeling in the air. Lauren was finishing up her hair and makeup in the chapel’s bridal suite. Her bridesmaids were excited to see her in her wedding dress. Lauren and Dillon made the decision to keep to tradition and not do a first look before the ceremony. After all the wedding party portraits, Lauren went into hiding in the chapel. Her guests began to fill in the seats under a tall shade tree on the property.
Lauren’s uncle drove her to the ceremony in one of his classic cars. With much joy Lauren’s dad escorted her down the aisle, and Dillon got to see his bride for the first time. The rest of the day was a fairy tale. As they joined hands and exchanged vows, the clouds opened up and the sun shined on the rest of their day as husband and wife.
Mimosa Ridge Wedding Venue
Mimosa Ridge is a full-service wedding venue. They offer several ceremony sites on the property. Most of my brides that choose Mimosa Ridge say that they love the fact that the staff takes care of their day. The property also offers lodging, cake, catering, flowers, and coordinator. When I have worked at this venue, the staff always seems to be on Team Bride’s side. They work hard to take care of so many stresses of the day. The property sits on a beautiful bluff overlooking the river. There is really a spot on the property for any style preference. It may even be hard for you to choose between the green space with trees, waterfront shelter, or quaint chapel to say your vows.
Tuscaloosa Area Wedding
I met Lauren and Dillon last winter at Lauren’s “brother’s” wedding. Both Lauren and Dillon were in the wedding party. It always seems like the year you are getting married that you get to attend or be a part of at least 2 other weddings. I attended 5 or 6 weddings during my engagement year. Lauren and Dillon have known each other since the “old days”. Back then they didn’t know that marriage was in their future, but here we are celebrating the newlyweds. It’s always a cute story when things come together.
Here are a few questions I asked Lauren + Dillon during the wedding planning.
Chic
Elegant
Fun
Modern
I LOVE anything Rose Gold.
I missed his family pictures because I was out of town, so I asked him could me and him take pictures and I would get a friend of mine to take them for us, he said that was fine. Well, a couple of days later his mom asked me could they take pictures too because theirs didn’t turn out that good, so I told her, of course, that was fine. Well little did Iknow they already had it planned lol, but I thought taking pictures was my idea. So I didn’t know what he had planned. Well while we were taking pictures our blue heeler went missing and when she showed back up she had a new red collar on with a tag that said will you marry my dad and of course I said YES!
How comfortable we are with each other.
Lauren and Dillon, it has been so great to get to know y’all this year. You are my first couple to be in one of my wedding party’s and then get married 5 months later. Such a neat memory for me. Thank you for inviting me to photograph your wedding day. I’ll never forget when you, Dillon, saw your bride for the first time. Wasn’t she absolutely breathtaking!? Much happiness to you both!
